[ well, this isn't a war, but he certainly does look like he's been through the wringer. it's been a few days since That Incident, and though iris healing has been taking care of his injuries rather well, it's... still not ideal. so when he meets a girl who claims to be able to heal whatever leftover wounds he's still got, he quickly takes her up on the offer.
luckily(?) for marianne, riou's not home; it's just itaru, opening the door with a small smile, shoulders slumped. ]
Hey. Thanks for coming over. I'd go to you, but -- [ well, you know. everything hurty. he steps to the side, to let her in, then closes the door and limps to the couch, glancing at the snack bag.
[ she still needs to learn her way around the city! and itaru thankfully wasn't too far from lorenz's place... she only needed to stop and ask for directions once! progress. more importantly, itaru does look like he's Been Through Shit, and while marianne is glad he doesn't look worse—she can't imagine how it must have been a few days ago when the wounds were fresh.
he looks so skinny too... boy do u even eat. good thing she's prepared for that: ]
Oh, these are for you. [ the bag goes right next to the couch so it's easier for him to reach. inside are just a bunch of chips and like, lil debbie cake things, which aren't exactly the best while he's recovering, but. ] I would have made something more hearty, but I wasn't sure what you liked. I know it's a little difficult getting around while you're injured, so...
[ oof, she's starting to ramble again. better get back on track. ]
Anyway, I'd like to check your injuries first, if that's okay? Just so I know what I'm working with.
[ luckily for new people, and also people who don't like to walk much (him), most of the living quarters are located near each other. it's convenient, he thinks, and it saves them both trouble. anyway, he does eat... sometimes... mostly protein bars, but his roommate cooks when he's home, so there's that, at least. ]
Ahh, no problem. Snacks are my lifeblood, anyway. [ chips restore the maximum amount of his hit points, and all.
but watching him shove them into his mouth isn't why she came here, and he's not about to get distracted by food, either, because his whole body still aches, and appetite is scarce when you're Fucked Up. ]
Sure. I'm guessing you're used to seeing things like that, so... [ he's not going to beat around the bush and just tug his shirt off, exposing his chest. there's a large bitemark on his left shoulder, some flesh torn off, a few of the puncture wounds still open -- another on the back of his neck, top of his spine, and the ugliest one over his ribs. it's pretty obvious bones were crushed -- moving with that has been a pain, and his side looks like it's been mauled, barely recognizable.
he glances down at it, then back at her, lips pursed in a thin line. ]
[ when marianne had agreed to come over and heal his injuries, she was expecting something along the lines of like, a nasty cut, or a broken arm, maybe. something that required immediate attention but nothing life-threateningly serious. so the moment itaru takes his shirt off and reveals the extent of his wounds, she's left speechless for a moment, expression cycling through something like surprise to mild horror to overall concern.
sure, she's seen worse and has dealt with worse; encounters with crest beasts were always tough to deal with during the fight and afterwards, when they all dragged their broken bodies back home. and she knows these injuries weren't caused by a crest beast, and she knows they're not home, but, ]
That's— [ indeed A Lot. she takes a deep breath. ] ... Okay.
[ yes, all right, she can work with this. maybe, possibly. to her credit, she doesn't ask him how he got all those injuries and still managed to be up and about? and she isn't entirely sure if she wants to know either, so in the meantime, she has him sit where she can reach his injuries without him moving too much, her touch gentle and careful as she checks over those open punctures. it's a good thing he has his iris healing, though. at the very least, that may have done most of the work from the start. ]
I'm going to close the open wounds up here first before I start on your side. This might take a little while... but if it gets to be too much, please let me know and we can take a break, okay?
[ and who knows, maybe she'll need it, too. this is the first time she's tried using her magic here, and she isn't sure if this place has affected it at all. she's determined to do what she can despite that, so she lifts her hands and murmurs the incantation for her faith magic, fingers glowing with a soft, golden light as they hover over the large bite mark on his shoulder. immediately, his skin will start to stitch itself back together, the wound scabbing over before smoothing out to newer, pink skin. ]
[ it's his first time seeing the injuries properly after taking off his bandages a little before she came, too, so he's... well, he doesn't look pleased, apparently having expected them to heal more. he's good on chroma, but it's not as if the powers they've been given are particularly powerful -- still, the self-healing factor was probably the only reason he'd stayed alive through the ordeal, so he can't exactly complain, either.
seeing her reaction isn't exactly calming his nerves, either... ]
Sorry. [ it's a little sheepish, but he does genuinely feel bad for making her look at this mess.
he settles on the couch, comfortably, allowing her easy access to the injuries, and nods in confirmation. it'll probably feel weird -- he expects it, because closing wounds in an unnatural manner can't feel good, but... he's also just excited to see them gone. ]
M'kay. I'll be a good patient, dw. [ ... he probably shouldn't use abbreviations out loud, but whatever. flinching a little, when her fingers first brush against the injuries, he braces himself for what comes next -- a strange, yet soothing feeling, her hands glowing gold. she really is like a priest character from a jrpg... (slaps knee) itaru's eyes widen a little, despite having expected this, feeling a tad lethargic. ] That's amazing.
BABY...BABY GIRL

Iris healing is nice, and all, but this is a lot.
